Dr. Kent and the rest of the staff are gentle, caring, and compassionate. They handle my nerves, my daughter's sensitive gums, & my son's cavity-prone teeth much better than I could expect! Pain free and stress free visits mean a lot to us! The front desk staff is very friendly, & my youngest enjoys the toy area. I had to get a procedure done recently, & happened to look over at my electronic chart and saw "She is nervous. Please allow extra time." Everything went perfectly with no pain! They do not use mercury fillings, & they offer fluoride free (as well as traditional) oral hygiene products. This was a cleaning and exam visit, and the hygienist who was doing the cleaning was very good at it. Also, one of my bridges fell out while on vacation, and Dr. Matthew Kent said the work the dentist in London did was really good and there was no need for a new bridge. Very personable dentists and staff. Dr. Dean Kent is awesome--meaning knowledgable, skillful, kind, considerate and trustworthy. That is hard to find in a dentist these days. Also, I love the fact that this is a mercury free dental office, and I am thankful for the option to remove my amalgam fillings one day and replace it with a less toxic option. I had my wisdom tooth removed at the office and it went really smoothly. I felt cared for and would recommend this office to everyone looking for a great option for dental care.read more

They were able to schedule me in asap for a emergency visit. I was in serious pain and at 33 weeks pregnant. They took it very seriously, and was so considerate. I have been to other practices and none of them compare to this one. The staff is friendly and welcomes you with a smile, they were quick to handle my situation and get ahold of my doctor's for approval. The only downside is they don't accept my type of insurance, but I will gladly pay out of pocket to get this great service. I highly recommend this practice!read more

I was looking for a holistic doctor and I am so happy that I found Dr. Mattew Kent. I went to him for a second opinion for both me and my daughter after we were both misdiagnosed from another dentist and was extremely happy with him. I love that he has a more natural approach and does not just push treatment to get money for it. Another dentist wanted to do 1 filling, 2 crowns and put 2 spacers on my daughter's teeth. He laughted at me when I told him that I want to treat my daughters teeth naturally by changing her diet and adding supplements ( was following a protocol based on the book Cure tooth decay naturally). I did not feel comfortable adding that much metal in my daughter's mouth and told him I do not want any treatment. Three months after following that protocol I we went for a second opinion with Dr. Kent. He told me that she does not need any filling, crowns or spacers and to keep doing what we were doing. I don't know if the protocol was working or if the other dentist just didn't care and was just pushing treatment, or BOTH, but I am very happy that Dr. Kent agrees with me and does not look at me like I am a crazy mom wanting to help my daughter more naturally and avoid unnecessary treatments.After going to three different dentists I can say that I finally found the dentist that I can trust and I am extremely happy with him. I was in a great deal of pain over the weekend. I called Partners In Dental Health and they scheduled an appointment for me right away. The staff was pleasant and polite. The x-ray technician was very gentle. The doctor showed me on the x-ray what was wrong. He explained everything in detail to me. I was given a plan of care. The next day I felt so much better. The front staff was very nice but I was not called in advance about my treatment plan or price. I was shocked to be told what I was expected to pay 5 minuets before my appointment. My wife is in endodontics and the patient is always made aware of what is owed far in advance or the visit date. The doctor and clinical staff is very professional and kind! The wait time was the shortest I have ever experience.read more

I must share first, Dr. Leong is the bomb! He is excellent at his job. I had to have a tooth pulled out from the top gums of my mouth. He did not hurt at all. I felt absolutely nothing. So grateful to him. I want no one but him from now on. I feel the other dentists in this office is just as good. But I want Dr. Leong! Now the bad experience from the supportive service of this office! 1. The front desk did not return my Driver's license! I was nervous, and after getting my tooth pulled; forget she had not given my Driver's license back. After having to drive back in the rain, on a very crowded highway on a Sat. morning. As I got to the front desk, I never got a "I am sorry," this added to the my suffering. 2. She asked did I want to pay ahead. I said yes! I knew my tooth was gonna get pulled, and I did not want to deal with paying then. As Dr. Leong walked with my chart to the window. He handed her my charts. She looks at me. And asks for x amount of money. Before I could explain I already paid, she said oh you paid! Unnecessary stress. 3. I asked before being seen to join their dental plan, they offer. She had no brochure. And told me I would have to join another day! She later hand wrote prices. I feel I should have been able to join then. And a brochure/printed information at the least should be available. Besides the front desk person, everything else was very impressive. I hope the receptist either gets more training. And apply the proper procedures. Including normal good manners, the simple words, I am sorry. This office has such professional good dentists. The office is beautifully decorated. The supportive staff should match this! I might would not have wrote about the receptionist if she had seemed sorry. She did not! Her only response was, I tried to call you to tell you about card here. She never said, I am sorry.read more

After a bad experience years ago with a dentist, I was extremely reserved when I found myself needing to go again. The experience of this office was absolutely amazing!! The staff and dentist was very kind and understanding. They listened and addressed my concerns. They let me decide on what work I wanted done and when, absolutely no pressure!! I would highly recommend this office to any of my family and friends. Only one drawback, they do not accept Medicaid/Medicare, therefore my mother and some others I know cannot go to them 😪.read more

I love this place! Partners in Dental Health is a very clean, organized, well run office. The staff is friendly and competent. Margaret is my hygienist and does a thorough job cleaning my teeth. She even gives me tips on ways to improve! My dentist, Dr. Matthew Kent, is wonderful too! He is so gentle and knowledgeable, did a great job replacing a (very old) broken cap recently. They have an affordable insurance plan (in-house) which covers cleanings, xrays and more! Again...so glad I found this dental office! I’ve been coming to this office and seeing Dr. Kent for over 10 years. I was there earlier this year for a routine check-up AFTER switching employers and insurance. The office staff failed to update my profile and kept calling and calling to get my insurance BEFORE the appointment or else... I would have to pay for the service ahead of time. Then charge me a $25 fee for canceling. ‘Office Policy’. People wonder why healthcare is so expensive and insurance costs keep going up. Why is healthcare so focused on charging insurance... I give Dr. Kent 5 STARS along with all the staff there MINUS the front office people. They failed to update my information earlier this year and want to inconvenience me and hustle me for it. They lost a long term client because of their ‘office policy’ ***UPDATE*** I spoke with a Manager and she informed me of what happened and addressed my concerns. I’m happy to say that I’m updating this review back up to 5 stars and keeping my appointment.read more

Shes super sweet and kind and tells you what you need done without being overbearing if you can't afford it at the moment. If you need a dentist for life, search no more! From the front desk to the Dentist, the kindness and care they all show is outstanding. Jason was able to schedule me an appointment this morning to come in later in the day. I walked in and was immediately greeted with smiles!! A simple smile can change your mood in an instant. I am so glad I found this dentist. They were a recommendation from a friend after I had some tooth pain. These guys are the best I have ever dealt with. Very good at making me feel like I was heard and they addressed my concerns. They also got me in right away and when my filling needed an adjustment, they could get me in the next day! I used to be terribly afraid of the dentist 😬 several years ago I saw the t.v. commercial for Partners In Dental Health where they addressed people with the same fear and had the tooth fairy. So I gave them a try..... I can tell you I am no longer afraid of the dentist. I really like Dr.Dean.....I now go faithfully for all cleanings and whatever else I need. My experience with Partners In Dental Health has been amazing so far. I'm on a treatment plan for 5 fillings, and with 3 appointments done so far I can say the service has been great. They're great at informing me about the work they need to do and educated me about how to best take care of my dental health when I got my cleaning and checkup. It's been relatively painless so far and if there is pain, it's minor and lasts only a day. They do their work with care and can't recommend them enough!read more

A piece of popcorn took a chunk out of one of my two front teeth on a Sunday night. The next morning, I called the Edwin office, which set up a noon appointment with Dr. Dean Kent. Dr. Kent repaired the damage, taking pains to make sure that the new portion matched the rest of the tooth and that the fit and tolerance were precise. I am a regular patient at the West Great Neck office, which isn't open on Mondays. This is the second time I have had a dental emergency that Dr. Dean has taken care of for me at the Edwin facility. I broke my back molar eating popcorn Thursday evening (8/13/2020) which left a couple of pretty sharp edges that could have potentially cut the side of my tongue. I called Partners In Dental Health the next morning and even though my usual dentist was not in that day, I was able to come right in to the office for another dentist to smooth down the rough edges. Dr. Schneider (I think that's her name!) smoothed my tooth to where it is perfectly comfortable, and not only that one, but she found another rather sharp edge on another tooth and smoothed it down as well! I went to Partners In Dental Health on an emergency basis, because of a broken molar that needed speedy attention. I got an appointment for the next day with Dr. Dean Kent. The waiting area was very clean and inviting, with chairs arranged in a way consistent with the guidelines for social distancing. The office personel was very cordial and helpful with filling out the initial paperwork. Dr. D. Kent ordered an x-ray of the broken tooth and examined the site very carefully, after which he informed me about the necessary actions ( extraction of the molar, options for replacement ) and immediately scheduled the procedure few days later. During the extraction Dr. D. Kent was very careful and made sure that the site was fully sedated. I didn't feel any pain during the procedure, although the molar was big and it took him extra time to finish. His assistant was also very kind and efficient in what she was doing to facilitate the work. I was given clear instructions ( verbal and in writing) about what to do, and not do, to promote healing and prevent infection. Overall, my experience at Partners In Dental Health in Virginia Beach was very positive and I have only praise and gratitude for the people I encountered during my visits, and especially for Dr. Dean Kent. May God continue to bless him and his practice with good things and success.read more

I discovered Dr. Kent’s office in Norfolk, and took a turn to the VA Beach office when I moved away from the Norfolk office. Let me tell you about my experiences EVERY time for the past 5 years. Wait time: The Norfolk office is smaller and they can only see two patients at a time, (if my memory serves me right) but I’ve only waited less than 10minutes my entire 5 years. Other occasions I’m in the office and seen within 5 mins or at my scheduled appointment time. The only time it took longer was because they had a child in the chair, which I completely understand! I have never experienced double booking & I definitely don’t have time to wait around to be seen. I love this about these offices! Customer Service: I’ve only had great customer service from the front receptionist/medical assistance & my dental hygienist. Margaret is basically like family because she’s been cleaning mine and my husband’s teeth for about 4 years now. She is always pleasant & holds great conversation. Makes you feel comfortable in the chair & so welcoming! Billing: I had one discrepancy in the past when I initially went to the Norfolk office. I called the office and they immediately handled it quickly and professionally. Dr. Mathew Kent was recommended by a coworker 8 years ago. He has been awesome and kind every visit. What surprised me the most was how he was calm and patient with my four year old last year. She had a bad cavity that got infected. She had never allowed a full cleaning at the office and we were working up to it. The initial visit she cried for what seemed like 30 mins. He was so patient with her. Once she opened her mouth he spotted the infection and decided antibiotics first before treatment. I am a life long patient. My mother started with Dr. Dean Kent in 1980 and now I bring my daughter. Everyone is great of course, but I'm partial to the Kents. The office staff get to know you, the hygienists know you too, and no one rushes you. It is so important to feel safe and secure with medically related matters. The staff are gentle, thorough, and discuss preferences respectfully without pushing any one particular kind that might be more expensive or convenient for them. Top marks, won't go anywhere else!read more

(2/3rds of the tooth broke off making it impossible for a crown) He explained all my options to me and answered all my questions. Such a great dental group! I’ve been coming here for years and my teen loves it as much as I do! They all have a gentle approach, are kind, and compassionate! Margaret is my favorite because she respects that I don’t want fluoride and she also knows how I prefer my teeth cleaned, avoiding the drill noise close to my ears. And “younger” Dr. Kent is amazing, and great with children! My daughter actually looks forward to her cleanings! Just this week, I had hurt my tooth unexpectedly and they got me in within 15 minutes! Got in on 2 days notice for a tooth ache as a new patient, turned out to be a filling that had come out and was forming a cavity. My appointment was at 10:30am, and then the same day at 4:30 I was able to go back and get a filling. Dr. Kent (the younger one) made both appointments smooth, easy and he was extremely caring throughout the whole process making sure I was well taken care of. I’m terrified of the dentist and have terrible teeth but I wanted to start working on restoring my dental health. I was shaking when I walked into the office but the atmosphere was so calm and the guys at the front desk were so sweet. The hygienist, Darren, picked up on my fear and listened to why I was afraid and was so, so patient and kind. Dr.Bichu was amazing! She also listened to my concerns and fears and went a long way to reassure me and worked with me because I have a medical condition that makes local anesthesia not work very long on me. She did everything she could to make sure I was comfortable and as numb as I could be for my emergency extraction. She didn’t judge my bad teeth or make nasty remarks as previous dentists have done and I felt so well taken care of. This was the first time in 10+ years that I did not have to be sedated for a dental procedure and all because the staff made me feel so comfortable. I cried happy tears at the end. I’m actually excited for my next appointment and starting my dental health journey! When they say they cater to cowards, they mean it!read more

I was in need of a root canal asap, i was having serious pains in my mouth and discovered i had a very sizable hole in my back molar, i gave them a call on a thursday asking to be seen asap, they were able to get me an appointment for the very next day! i had seen Dr.Ashwini Bichu, she was amazing! I then set up another appointment to see what will happen to me tooth, i needed a root canal and Dr. Ashwini took such good care of me! the treatment was simple and fast. I cannot say enough good things about Dr Mathew Kent at Partners in Dental Health, as well as his staff! I rarely leave reviews but want others who are looking for great dental care to know they can find it here. I was drawn to Partners in Dental Health after searching for holistic dentistry, as I like a more natural approach. I have had a lot of dental trauma and been told by some dentists that I need hundreds of dollars worth of work and by others that I do not, so I never know what to believe. From my first time here, everyone was wonderful! All of the dental staff are kind, considerate, and caring, and Dr Mathew, in addition to being all of these things, always patiently answers all of my questions and never rushes to do any procedure unless he thinks it is absolutely necessary. When he does recommend a procedure, he explains why, gets your input without forcing anything on you, and during the procedure, walks you through the whole process with his kind and gentle demeanor. I appreciate him, Ms Margaret (an amazing hygienist who I love!), and the whole staff very much and feel so fortunate to have found them!read more

What a wonderful practice! I saw Dr. Kent for a consult after my PREVIOUS dentist said I needed a crown but, would not provide a preservative free lidocaine (as preservative causes anaphylaxis.) Dr. Kent assured me he would be able to provide a preservative free alternative. After a thorough exam and looking at my x-rays, Dr. Kent informed me I didn't need a crown and scheduled me for a cleaning that was due next month. Needless to say, Partners in Dental Health is now my only dental practice. I also want to add the staff is amazing! Friendly, kind and so helpful!read more

I had extensive (for me) dental work performed by Dr. Bichu recently. She and Kayla were great through the whole process. They checked in on me frequently while working. They also described everything they were doing and gave thorough instructions when finished. I also appreciated that Dr. Bichu had Jennifer from the Great Neck office call me the day before to review the plan of care and let me know the original plan might have to change. I always have great interactions with their team whether it's in-person or on the phone.read more
